Frances Kilpatrick Art

I live in Donnybrook, Western Australia and am self-taught, working in water colour and mixed media since about 2014.

The two big influences on my art are: the natural beauty around where I live, and the wonderful children’s books I enjoyed when young. Overall, my art is nature-based with a lot of whimsy and bright colours.

I make:

· Abstract paintings with watercolour and botanical line drawings,

· Mixed media pieces with collage and dried plants,

· Some triptych and 3-D works,

· Paintings in the style of children’s book illustrations.

A personal highlight of 2023 was having my two entries in the Colour Exhibition chosen for the Shire of Donnybrook-Balingup Acquisition, to be placed in the local libraries.

Trying various styles of painting which people may enjoy having in their homes is very rewarding for me and I have done commission work as well. I also enjoy having prints made of my art and placed on objects people can use such as cards, mugs and notebooks.

One day I hope to produce an illustrated book for children.
