My art practice is an exploration of myself, my identity & placement within my family’s multifaceted history. It is illustrated directly from lived experiences on country and my responses to, and relationship with our landscape. Matrilineal memories within my shared European &Indigenous histories in the Australian landscape, engages commentary around the simultaneously constructive/destructive relationship between wo(man) & land especially in the regenerative context.

Botanical elements in my work are used as a reflection of personal transformations. Key personality traits of people interface with ecological botanicals characteristics to form a distinctive 'language of flowers'. They seek to create a narrative around our cultural identity & role within our natural world. Repurposing natural forms from my farm aids in creating contemporary depth to painted themes & explores concept of placement: “ ‘who am I? who has shaped me?’ and the environmental imprinting influencing bearing & identity.

Lori is nationally recognised having held 30 solo exhibitions & being shortlisted for 130 awards. Notably she won the collie Art Prize in 2025 & the Portia Geach and Stanthorpe Prizes in 2024: Royal Show Landscape award 2022; Kilgour Art Prize 2021; Toni Fini Black Swan Portraiture 2018; The Jury Prize 2022; Hamersley Iron Landscape awards 4 years running 1998 - 2001.She has been a finalist in - Dobell Drawing Prize; Salon De Refuse; Portia Geach Memorial Award; The Alice Prize; Len Fox Award.
